December 10, 2025
The recent earthquakes, fires, and floods across the country remind us of one truth: emergencies can happen anytime. No warning. No script. This is why being prepared is one of the best ways to protect ourselves, our families, and the teams we lead.
To strengthen our readiness, ValuCare held the Family Emergency Management Seminar on December 2, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Roof Deck Level. The session was led by Mr. Fervin “Hutch” Regencia, a Crisis and Business Continuity Management Specialist.
At ValuCare, safety and wellbeing are paramount. We believe that our people should feel equipped—not just at work, but at home. This seminar is one of the many ways we help our employees build confidence and resilience.
Mr. Regencia opened the session with simple but powerful questions:
• Am I ready for the Big One?
• If an emergency happens, can I protect my family?
• Do I know what to do after a disaster?
• Do I have a plan?
• Do I practice drills?
• Am I ready to face reality?
He reminded everyone that many of us tend to block out the possibility of experiencing disasters. We assume it won’t happen to us. According to him, “The biggest threat is actually us—when we choose not to prepare.”
He shared insights from the Metropolitan Manila Earthquake Impact Reduction Study (MMEIRS 2004). If a 7.2-magnitude earthquake hits the West Valley Fault, the impact may include:
• 170,000 collapsed homes
Participants learned key skills and principles, including:
Situational Response
Family Emergency Planning
Quick Support Essentials
The seminar emphasized that preparedness is not only personal—it is also part of leadership. Managers, Supervisors, and the Emergency Response Team are encouraged to discuss their key takeaways with their teams. A short debrief can strengthen awareness, build confidence, and create a safety-first culture.
By sharing what we learn, we help shape a safer workplace and community.
Mr. Regencia left us with a question that sums up the entire session:
“If the biggest threat is our lack of preparation, what will we choose to do today?”
At ValuCare, we choose to prepare—together. Because safety and wellbeing are not just policies. They are commitments we uphold for our people, our families, and our future.
Valucare President and CEO Dr. Elmer Palomata drives the company’s safety and resilience initiatives. The seminar was facilitated by the HR Team under the leadership of Chief People Officer Ms. Erika Castillo. Employees from various departments attended and participated in the session.
