ValuCare at 21: Leaps and Bounds

June 2018

I am sure that all of you will agree that 21 years of business growth and evolution is, in itself, an ACHIEVEMENT.

From a modest office space in Tektite with just a little over 20 employees back in 1997, we now take helm at our very own ValuCare Building and employ more than 300 service-oriented employees proudly serving more than 350,000 ValuCare members nationwide. We already have offices in Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao, but we have a pounding urge to push to the countryside further and personally reach out to our members there.

2018. Year of the Dog

January 2018

2018 is anticipated as a great but welcome challenge for ValuCare.

The expected new round of service rate increase from partner-hospitals and clinics, the ever evolving cutthroat competition among HMOs, and the resolve to fully comply with the requirements of the Insurance Commission: these are but among the many challenges that we need to wrestle head-on in order for ValuCare to continue being one of the top HMOs in the country.

Getting Bigger and Stronger

For the last twenty years, ValuCare has triumphed over countless obstacles and challenges with determination and enthusiasm for change.

Coinciding with the steady increase in membership enrollment, the Human Capital Management of ValuCare is aggressively scaling up its workforce. This future team members will be welcomed into the company’s fully operational building.

Complementing this physical growth is a robust technical support which designed the iView system and ValuCare mobile apps. These home-grown web facilities equip the VC satellite offices, field liaison officers and corporate clinics with a local approval system designed for the convenience of members – wherever they are.

President’s New Year Message

January 2016

2015 was a milestone year for the company as it marked the final completion and official transfer of ValuCare to its new office building. I want commend all the people who have been part of making this dream project a reality for their considerable efforts and positive contribution in many areas is what have placed ValuCare to where it is now.

In terms of business operations, last year was indeed a tough and challenging year, and the true capabilities of each one were really tested.

Despite all that we’ve been through, we were still able to accomplish together a positive result. Kudos and thank you to all ValuCarers!

18 years has always been an auspicious milestone. For a teenager, it signals the entry into adulthood. Independence, maturity of mind and strength of character are attributes that are expected and these are positive results of a process marked by rites of passage and various tests of time. New challenges now beckon with more defined goals taking shape: an education to build a foundation for a career, an entrepreneurial journey or a vocation dedicated to serving others. For ValuCare, 18 years is more than a milestone. It signals a new chapter in our organization’s pursuit of its mission of providing affordable quality health care and promote the well-being of our plan members and vision of being the number one managed care organization in the Philippines, globally competitive in providing holistic care with compassion to the Filipino people. A journey and a vocation to serve others.

On behalf of the company, I wish you and your families all the very best of happiness and prosperity for 2015. As we begin the new year and with our 18th year anniversary happening this year, I would like to make a few remarks to all the officers and employees of ValuCare. Our corporate strategies for 2015 will be the same as in 2014. We just have to bring our performance higher in terms of sales growth, advertising, marketing efforts, customer service, and improved business solutions. We all need to make the effort to step-up to the next level because this is what will lift the competitiveness of our entire company. If we want to succeed and achieve our business goals, we need to understand the importance of taking on the challenge of continuously improving our own ability. “Personal power” as they call it. Also, we have to use the power of teamwork for it can create our future growth as well as deliver our company’s long-term vision. Moving forward, let us do our utmost effort to deliver our commitment of being the ” Healthcare You Can Count On”. As always, we look forward to your support in the years ahead. From mobile apps, and its own Personalized Access to Laboratory Services (P.A.L.S), ValuCare prides itself in constantly improving its ways to achieve these aspirations, always on the look-out for more innovations.

2014 is the year to make the new ValuCare Building a reality! Along the stretch of Meralco avenue going to Shaw Boulevard, we can see the New ValuCare Building in progress. A 9-storey building that will serve as the new home for ValuCare employees, sales partners and valued members. ValuCare office shall occupy the 5th floor way up to 9th floor of the building. The building is situated right in front of a residential and commercial structure called Capitol Commons by Ortigas Company which construction is also in progress.

ValuCare is embracing this digital era for our valued cardholders and to improve business operations. ValuCare cardholders can now access to VC information in 3 innovative ways; Newly improved website, Mobile Website for mobile phones and computer tablets, and VC Apps downloadable in Android Play Store with keyword: VALUCARE. Cardholders can search for VC Accredited hospitals, clinics, doctors and dentists using their mobile gadgets. Basic personal information is also available through On-line Inquiry feature. As the New Year unfolds, I wish all our employees, partners, members , and their families a happy, prosperous and healthy 2013. Again, this is the time for us to look back and at the same time, look ahead. We need to reflect on the previous 12 months to determine what we have accomplished. Did we exceed our expectations, meet, or fail? Whatever the result is, consider it as a learning opportunity so that we can look forward with renewed enthusiasm and greater commitments for higher accomplishments. During the recent Strategic Planning Session that was participated both by the Operations and the Management Committee members, we have laid down the measurements, standards and means towards evaluating and assessing efforts and accomplishments. The thrust for continual improvement is forever the common and constant commitment by each one in ValuCare, thus, we have greatly emphasized the importance that we know how to determine where we have been, where we are now and where we are going.

The well-attended VC Fun Run, coinciding with ValuCare’s 15th Anniversary and blessed with a respite amidst storm Butchoy, was celebrated last June 16, 2012 with the hoopla and fanfare typical of, but definitely the must-haves of a grand corporate outdoor event. The sponsors’ booths, the prizes and giveaways, and the energetic runners from all ages and walks of life added to the party atmosphere. Among the exciting highlights was the raffled trip for two to Boracay with airfare and accommodation. Behind all this is ValuCare’s commitment to social responsibility, this time for the beneficiaries of Bantay Bata 163 and Plastic Ni Juan. These underprivileged kids will continue to feel the warmth and the kindness that we shared with them, long after the excitement has settled. They will not be able to express their gratitude, but ValuCare is one with them in praying that those thank yous be given back to everybody as Blessings from HE who saw us through it all. The VC FunRun – another successful undertaking of ValuCare with friends and partners!

Year 2012 signals a new and more challenging period for ValuCare as we set the groundwork to realign our business operations with creativity, insight and the resiliency of our management and staff. We are very confident that we will be able to exceed our performance of last year because everyone has gained inspiration to open new horizons of business possibilities, undaunted by the challenges in the HMO business. This entails beefing up our operations to further make our company more appealing to our clients through the delivery of superior products and services that meet their ever changing needs and requirements.

Our benchmark is always our customers. We try to be in touch with our members and find out from them their needs. Service excellence has always been our goal because we believe that there is simply no substitute for value and no better sense of fulfillment than having happy and satisfied customers. We continuously find ways on how to improve our operations to make sure that we deliver what we commit. Our own 24/7 call center was set-up to assist our clients, we have assigned more hospital liaison officers in major and tertiary hospitals for us to be always there as and when needed.

This 2011, I call on each one of ValuCare’s officers and staff to renew their commitment to the compa-ny’s continuous thrust of striving for service excellence. ValuCare’s remarkable growth can be attributed primarily to its focus on giving quality service to its members as attested to by a 90-percent retention rate of business . Our customers, composed of members, sales intermediaries, and healthcare providers are our benchmark. We always keep in touch with them for us to know their needs as well as to get feedback as to how we can further improve our delivery of service.

VC Goes Green At 13!

More than 40 officers and staff of ValuCare trekked the La Mesa Wa-tershed in Quezon City to plant 100 trees as part of the company‟s commem-oration of its 13th year anniversary. Headed by COO Rose-marie U. Yu and SVP Armando S. Macalino, the group braved the cloudy June 20, 2010 morning to make their own contribution in main-taining and improving the reserve. Recognizing that forests play a major role in pro-moting and maintaining the health of watersheds, ValuCare joined the Bantay Kalikasan initia- tive to help in the rehabili-tation of the Watershed which is the primary source of drinking water of about 12 million Metro Manila residents.

VC Vision 2010: A Look Ahead

Despite the global economic insta-bility last year, ValuCare modestly surpassed its targets in both sales and human resource development. 2009 has been a year of mixed challenges and achievements for Philippine HMO industry. For some, economic difficulties left them fighting for survival, whereas others continued to grow as more filipinos realized the importance of health insurance. Members of the AHMOPI became more cohesive. Although the prospects are uncer-tain, ValuCare is optimistic and upbeat in its plans for this year. The sales target is pegged at an all time high, satellite clinics will be put up, mobile APE will be acquired, and advanced employee trainings will hap-pen. The VC System is expected to be completed by the second quarter, and so with the new website, the vision for 2010 is a bigger and better ValuCare, slowly rising to be a leader in the industry as it continues to do its mission and be true to the saying “constancy to purpose makes a business succeed”.

Valucare Celebrates its 12th Year!

Valucare is on its 12th year. Last June 16, a simple ceremony was held to celebrate the anniversary. The activity kicked off with a mass officiated by Fr. Jerry Tapiador. This was followed by a short program where Ms. Rosemarie Yu, the COO/EVP, was given a Loyalty Award for her 10 years of service to the company. A sumptuous feast was shared by the officers, employees and guests afterwards. In her speech, Ms Yu recognized that Valucare has arrived at another threshold as it moves toward its 13th year of business. She cited that since it started, the company’s aim has always been to provide world class solutions and services in the field of HMO.
